Golf Scholarships
To date six of Andy's students have attained American University Scholarships (Three currently) whilst under his tutelage.
This success has encouraged Andy to focus on Junior Golf Development. The role of a coach varies depending on the needs of a student and children are no different. Whether coaching a beginner aged 5 or an International athlete aged 17, a coach must be able to express their knowledge into skill learning. This leads to sound fundamentals that will stand-up to the needs of the golfer as they progress. 'This coaching role is not to be taken for granted. It is natural for youngsters to look-up to significant adults developing a bond between their coach in the form of 'mentor' almost a 'father-figure' role. For this reason choosing a respectable PGA Professional is vital in the life of a youngster'.
Golf lends itself to training in life-skills, citizenship, honesty, integrity, self-respect, sportsmanship & team-building as well as a discipline that will assist in the transition from child to adult.
Andy, a father of three and committed Christian, is a Golf Foundation Community Links Coach, offering this highly acclaimed national group coaching programme to Juniors from 5-16 years of age. He offers Golf Foundation 'Passport to Golf' as a foundation course introducing children as young as four & five into the game. Tri-Golf is coached at schools, in the form of after-school clubs & curriculum classes. Using 'soft-play' equipment, the sessions introduces kids to golf at school before progressing to Andy's Golf Academy for a further 4 week courses, either continuing to use the 'soft-play' equipment or progressing to 'real' golf clubs and using golf course targets. Most kids at this stage are able to hit the ball comfortably and are encouraged by their success. Certificates are awarded as the kids progress through the Passport to Golf Programme and become young golfers in a very short-time. Junior equipment can be purchased that is specifically designed for their age, strength & size and further progresses the process of creating junior golfers. More advanced coaching of the swing skills hitting the ball further and more accurately and introducing golf terminology & knowledge of the rules and etiquette in order that they understand the game.
