Q. What is a golf handicap?
A. A handicap is a way of showing the number of shots a golfer is expected to take playing a round of golf in relation to the par of the course. The better a player gets, the lower their handicap becomes (so a play with a 5 handicap has achieved a higher standard than a player with a handicap of 25 for instance). Its a clever way of compensating the players with a number of strokes so that players of differing abilities can then compete fairly against one another and enjoy the game.
